The base of hai tua is doing fake double thumbaround. If you can do tornado and you have good technique on the fake double that is the good first step. Next you have to remember that you don't catch the pen after doing the fake double. after doing fake double you have to kind of turn up your hand so that your pinky finger is pivot toward you. Usually we like to put our pinky up so that the pen goes up all your fingers then to pinky so that it will hit your pinky and the pen goes up. remember that fake double start PD (palm down) and then as it goes up your hand, the angle of your hand rotate about 40-60 degrees. Then, when the pen is in air, you have to turn your hand to PS (palm side) so that the pen will land on your thumb and you can catch it like a regular thumaround. :) -noodle
